Signs of the Alternator going out

Signs of the Alternator going out

Postby Solorange » Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:47 pm

I noticed today when driving my car that the HVAC blower was fluctuating speed. Then I noticed my headlights and interior lights were getting brighter when I hit the gas and get dimmer when I let the gas off. I realized that the blower was doing the same too. When I get on the gas it would blow harder and then it would back off when I let off the gas. Is this a sign of my alternator going out?

My blower in my '96 has always done it. Go to AutoZone and have them check the Alt. It;s free.

Yeah I did have my rear defrost on as well has my fan on high. That may have been why. Everything else seems fine lately.
