radio and turn signal stopped working

radio and turn signal stopped working

car info: 2002, toyota solara, 4 cyl. with JBL audio system.

well, i had a friend give me some speakers, a box, and an amp. i was bored so i decided to see if i could hook up the speakers and amp to the stock headunit temporarly while i saved for a new headunit

during the process, i was disconnecting everything and i heard a small pop, similar to what a blown fuse might sound like, then the radio cut off. at first glance i thought i blown the radio, but after further inspection i noticed that the turn signal lights will not work either.

when i pull the lever up or down, there is no clicking, no turn signal indicator light in the instrument panel, and no turn signal flashing on the outside of the car, front or rear. the weird thing is that the flashers/hazards to work, the indicator in the instrument panel lights up, and the lights work on the outside of the car. as far as i know everything else works, clock, heater/ac lights, cig lighter, headlights, parking lights, brake lights, reverse lights..

does anyone have any ideas on what to check, i have checked the hazard and radio1 and radio2 fuses, they are still good. i have pulled every single fuse in the fuse box located in the engine compartment and there isnt a single fuse that is blown.

does anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem? thanks!

yes same thing hapened to me. IIRC it was a 15 amp fuse in the little useless compartment to the left of the steering wheel... your manual should say exactly where its located. One thing to remember when doing anything electrical on your car is: ALWAYS disconect your negative battery cable...
