The "Ultimate" Solara For Sale-

The "Ultimate" Solara For Sale-

Postby flybigjet » Wed Mar 17, 2004 12:15 am

I’ve finally decided to put my 1999 Toyota SE-V6 Solara up for sale as I’m in the process of special ordering a 2004 BMW M3 and am going to need the garage space- I can't bring myself to be a single guy with four cars- that's a little too much transportation overkill.

I have been the only owner and driver- the car was special ordered in 10/98 and delivered in 02/99. There is no rust, body damage, or major door dings and the car has always been garaged and waxed with Zymol- there are some expected paint chips on the front bumper and body and a very superficial "cat-scratch" on the passenger's front quarter panel. The car has never been in an accident, tracked, raced, auto-crossed, or run in the quarter mile. The engine has never had an over-rev'ed, and has never had any problems with either O2 sensors or OBD-II codes. Milage is approximately 26,400. The car was DynoJetted at (SAE corrected) 261.1 front wheel horsepower and 265.5 pound-feet of torque on 91 octane fuel. DynoJet was performed with a stock exhaust (from the cat back)- the GReddy cat-back had not been installed yet. The car passes Colorado smog on a rolling dyno (almost as painful as California) with no problems.

Total costs of upgrades/modifications well exceed the original purchase price of the car. Receipts of work done are available on request.

The car is mechanically perfect, and I firmly believe that this is the car that Toyota *should* have built- you won't realize how fast it is until you scare yourself and it handles like it’s on rails. The ride is firm but very settled- all suspension components work together seamlessly. It makes a very comfortable highway cruiser but turns into a completely different car once you let it loose on the twisties. There is *nothing* on the car that does not work perfectly- engine, electrical, lighting, or body. Any modifications were done at a level that exceed factory fit and finish. All work was done by myself, the dealership, or a performance shop specializing in Asian imports. The car has been *very* well taken care of- I would use it for my daily driver except that owning two coupes (and eliminating my hatchback) is not conducive to a Colorado lifestyle (mountain biking, skiing, boarding, rock climbing, etc.).

Note: The S-AFC must be dyno-tuned and the 7 lb. pulley replaced with a 5.5 lb. one (provided at time of sale) after the car leaves Colorado. The car (and boost resulting from the smaller pulley and associated S-AFC settings) are optimized to make the equivalent of 5.5 lbs of sea level boost at 5500’.

The OEM air intake assembly, hood, floor mats and shifter knob are also included in the sale. The buyer will be responsible for shipping the OEM hood (box and packing will be provided). A 5.5 lb. pulley is also provided to replace the current 7 lb. pulley to generate the equivalent amount of boost at sea level as the car is tuned for at 5500’.

The tires are virtually brand new and have less than 500 miles on them. All four wheels have been professionally refinished and clearcoated, and are completely free of curb rash. The car was set to factory recommended alignment specifications following wheel purchase by a manual four wheel alignment. Struts were custom slotted to allow proper reset of the camber due to lowering the car.

Price: Negotiable- reasonable offers only please. There is no urgency to sell as I will not be receiving my new car until mid-summer (and can always sell another of my cars if I have to- so no “fire-sale” prices). A one-way ticket to Denver, CO (vehicle location) from anywhere serviced by United Airlines is may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Please email me privately at flybigjet@earthlink.net for pricing discussions.

For pictures, go to http://www.cardomain.com/id/flybigjet . The pictures do not show the new VIS Racing CF hood nor the black TRD floor mats, and in all honesty, do not do the car justice. I’ll try to take more pictures tomorrow.

More detailed pictures and information are available on request. Please email me at flybigjet@earthlink.net .

One final note: The car is for sale as a whole. Individual parts ARE NOT for sale- I *will not* be parting out the car, so please don’t ask for individual pricing.

pretty cocky there saying ultimate solara =P but nice list of mods. I"m sure it'll get sold

Try v6performance.net. It's a big forum w/ various makes so it may be easier to sell than to someone that already owns a Solara
1GR-FE ftw!

Actually, "The Ultimate Solara" was the title given to the car by the moderator's over at SC3- never asked for it, but was very appreciative.

Thanks for the tip. I'll post over there as soon as I get some more pics taken. R.

I remember this guy way back in the Camryman.org days.

I wonder what ever happened to this car.

What can I say, I love reading about modded Gen1-1.5. I still look them up in the local classifieds.
