painting my rims

Postby zelahi » Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:44 pm

hi I was thinking of painting my rims and was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas. I was thinking of either going with dark bronze with a red lip or black with a polished lip

heres my solara again

I say black with a polished lip. It would go great with the chrome around the windows.

Im not too sure about dark bronze and a red lip but if u go full dark bronze it may look better.

Also the different color idea would be kinda of harder to do with a flat face surface of the TRD wheels.

Most ppl on here will tell you to keep the revos the way they are... If you do really wanna paint them, make sure you use lots of clear coat, otherwise after a few months they will look like s.ht

I personally would prefer the revos the way they are but yeah man like Ilovemylara said, just make sure you give a lot of clear coats. That way it will turn out good.

i saw leave them the way they are. I don't think it will look good at all painted a different color with a lip, especially since there isn't a lip to begin with

eh.. it can be. it all depends on the tools you have. A dremel definatly WOULDN'T do the job. I'd just keep them the way they are. Revos are very good looking wheels, just be glad you have them.

i agree, and if you even try to make the shape of a lip going around that would be very hard and time consuming. Just keep them the way the are.

Hmm... I think the wheels would blend better if they were in gunmetal. GL!

Piano Black - High Gloss.

1) Polished lips are good for big lips. (Which you don't have.)
2) The Time Attack red trim (not full lip) is kind of played out. Even cheap wheels have it.
3) Flat black is getting played out too. Looks like you spray painted it and did a poor job.
4) I'm seeing more wheels coming out in all high gloss black. It's a clean look and the anodized red center cap will still look OK. (Kind of a focal point.)

Oh, BTW. Show the tire sidewalls some love when taking pictures. Get some Armor All or something and keep it in the trunk. That can really influence the appearance of the wheels.

I say, go with gunmetal! It'll still look good with the red center caps. Also, if you can afford it, powder coat 'em instead. And some tire shine always cleans it up well. Btw, I think the Revos should've also come in gunmetal from the factory.
