Ok. So on my way home last night...it was about 68 degrees outside, so I rolled down my windows and opened the sunroof. About 20 minutes later I hear this "whoosh" sound, then a loud bang. I look up and my sunroof deflector had flown off the car, and came within inches of smacking the red Lexus SC430 that was kindly riding my ass. I turned around to go pick it up, when I got home I realized that both bolts holding it in broke off. Now that it is off....I kind of like the new look. Has this happenend to anyone else?

no sunroof deflector FTW

i don't know how functional those deflectors are, but the solara looks better without it IMO

now you just have to worry about the bolt holes.

Nah, the little brackets that hold it in clip in between the glass and the car, and can be removed easily with the deflector unscrewed. The screw it self broke and came un attached from the little bracket. I'm gonna wash the car later and see how I like it sans deflector.

it might reduce wind noise a bit. This happened to me too, but only one side broke off. The gen 2 deflectors are wedged underneath the sunroof gasket thingy.

the wind deflector is pretty usfull if you smoke... if you dont have it, wind will be going directly inside the car and create turbulance... when its there, the smoke is sucked up directly outside... im keeping mine... just need to fix that gasket underneeth before it brakes like yours did

well, i smoke, and don't really notice a lot of smoke lingering without the deflector. there's a vaccum created by faster moving air (outside) anyway, and it'll take out the smokey air, with or without the deflector.

BUT my question, to jake is, do you notice an increase in noise from your sunroof a) with it fully open, and b) with it tilted/cracked, then when you had the wind deflector on it?

LOL. yeah actually I do notice a difference in noise. Its much less....badass! And as far as smoking goes, I haven't noticed a difference in the smoke patterns when I'm driving.
