Manual gearbox feels sludgy in cold weather

It has been unseasonably cold in Atlanta the past few weeks and when I first get in the car, it feels like I am shifting through sludge (which I am assuming is thick, cold oil) for my first couple of shifts. It is all perfectly back to normal within about a minute, or after the 2nd or 3rd shift. Doesn't bother me, just need to know that this is not reason for concern or I have to change to a different weight oil.

I would HIGHLY recommend Redline MT-90, it will feel good again once you do a drain and fill with about 4.5 qts of this stuff and it's as easy to do as an oil change.

its pretty cold in montreal, and my shift nob is always sluggish when the car is still cold... i beleive its the grease that is supposed to go just below the leather boot. After a couple of shifting (10 min drive) and the car is hot inside, the shifting is normal.... you can try to regrease that area, where the shifter stick joins the rest of the tranny under the leather boot

LOL!

This could only come from a WARM-WEATHER driver...

Come live anywhere up here where it gets cold regularly... there are MANY little things you come to "expect"...

Normal.

I have redline MT-90 as well, and while it's great at cold temps, it's a bit notchy when hot.

Also, I wouldn't think you should be having much problems with your tranny oil in GA. My OEM oil didn't change when the weather was in the double-digit negatives around here.
