:) so anyway, Hi there!

My Uncle gave me a Solara 01 v6 when I 2 years ago and now that I am about to receive it, was I looking at the stock body kit, and really thought that the stock was lame (nothing personal if anyone likes it).

So... The point here is that I was wondering if anyone had any preferences or personal opinions on what I should get?
please keep in mind that I am a mid tech and have the help of my friend so please if possible to suggest something that a perfessional could only do. :/

thanks

also, if I were to get a Manual tranny, then could anyone point me in the direction of a good quality seller?

Best thing you can to change appearance is drop the car (new suspension). Its probably something you already have to replace soon and its functional. The car will handle a lot better. Upgrading rims to 17s or 18s is another easy option. Upgrades are all based on personal preference.

Whatever you do make sure you buy quality parts. Buying cheap parts off ebay will look cheesy, break, wear and/or not work well.

I think you're talking about a body kit, such as skirts... there are a couple of nice ones for the solara... search this forum or ebay and you will find some pics

or as anttarz suggested, lower the car

welcome and good luck

Got quite a few grammatical errors up in here but that's koo. I'm a fan of the stock body (plus some lowering springs and rims) but I have a gen2. Gl with it.

1) you will find loads on info on most all mods by searching, i highly recommend it (search button at the top of the page)

2) when you say "stock body kit" do you mean the TRD lip kit, or the stock solara with no kit on it (just the mudflaps and the regular body)? because most people here will stick by the TRD lip kit (which is kinda 'factory,' tho it was an aftermarket option, IIRC). if you want to go with some exotic body kit, then good luck. there aren't a lot of kits out there for the solara, and the generic ones that are out there (like the evo kit) look pretty bad on the solara (IMO). there are a couple of cars here that have a body kit, which is not the TRD one, but they are expensive, and usually change the look of the car entirely. be prepared to do a lot of custom fitting and have lots of aspirin on hand for all the headaches.

3) manual tranny swaps have been discussed many times before, in fact i believe there's a thread in the aftermarket section page 1 right now about it. otherwise search. i don't know if you can buy a manual from a 'seller' like a company, but you may have some luck if you find one in a scrap yard and are able to canabalize all the necessary parts.

but for the price it'll cost, you might want to just get another car that already has a manual in it. tho, there are a couple members on here who have done a a/t->m/t swap.

4) don't worry about mole, he's just prediciting that you're a rice fanboy who accidentally stumbled into the classy ranks of solara owners. most of us try to discourage ricey mods (like aggressive body kits that serve no purpose, or big wings on FWD cars), so whenever there's a new member in the midst who asks about something like 'chipping' or 'body kits' .... well, let me just say that it's usually pretty easy to spot a ricer coming from a mile away.

5) welcome to sg.

(......and please god, don't tell me that you want to put a big wing on the back.)

yeah bro if your looking into making your solara like something that came out of the fast and the furious, then good luck man! i have a front lip only but i had to do some modifications to the car, the rest of the car im going with the trd kit, but if you dont like that then good luck with any other body kit you purchase, IMO i dont think any other aftermarket kit looks good on a solara. All you want to do is make her look good. As for speed it might cost you a good amount of cash so be prepared because the solara isnt a civic because parts are not cheap.

either way welcome to sg. :)

The TRD lip kit looks the best on the solara IMO. If you want something different, you will have to get one custom made or adapted.

if you want speed, supercharge it, adapt a cp-e intake into a CAI, full suspension etc etc etc. The solara truly is one of those cars where you have more performance options than appearance ones.

wow, thanks for all the opinions guys (and girls, if any)

I was looking at the lip kit but I was just trying to get other opinions I am getting prices from 800 to 1k though :/ hahaha o well, thats what my job is for, and no I am not going to rice it up with a big wing, I am keeping the stock wing because it looks slick and other wings I find just make the solara look odd.

tranny wise..... I really dont think I will be able to find a nother solara that someone is going to be willing to just hand over the mt to me and junk yard where I live are not an option. but I will see if I can find one in back at my uncles place.

o, and before I forget, I was thinking about getting these Image
