what is tooo high mileage to put on a supercharger?

ok first off i did a search and found a little information and if i missed a post regarding this let me apologize right now.

currently i have an automatic solara, i was going to supercharge it.. but a few hours away from me a 5 spd solara has come up for sale. yea! right? no, wrong...i found out it has 150,000 miles on it. supposedly everything was done by toyota and car runs great. i live a few hours a way and cant just go see it on a whim. what do yall think about throwing the charger on it?

he is also asking 4750 which is imo way to much for a bone stock car. i was going to throw 4000 his way.

do it...change the oil on the supercharger regularly and keep up maintainence on the engine and your toyota will last forever.

I'd check out the car first. do a compression test on it and just have a mechanic take an overall look at it. if all ok, i say go for it. the engine will last forever if it was taken care of

yeah ^^ never buy a used car without first getting it checked out by a mechanic who knows what to look for.

ok so the general consensus is go for it. however the car is a few hours from my house and i dont know any mechanics near that area. also is 4000 a reasonable offer?

Why not SC the Solara you have now? For $4K you could SC it and convert your AT to MT. Then on the other hand it would be nice to have two Laras. Good luck to ya!

believe me i would love to do that mainly b/c my lara only has 45k miles and is a 2000. i consider myself mechanically inclined. however i just think that the at to mt swap would be far to great of a job for me, even with some of the great write ups on this board as well as tn. if i had one of them to help me it would be a different story. plus i have no access to a lift which would be crucial cause i dont feel like crawling under it with 4 jackstands. but yes 2 laras would be sweet!

oh yea and he called me back and hes lowered his price to 4500 + taxes and fees for the title cause it is in a dealers name + me taking it to a mechanic getting it looked over (in other words compression test)

you've got the right idea...i myself did the at to mt swap and while not the hardest thing to do it sure was a bitch. i would have much rather just bought a car with a stick in it to begin with to save myself the hassle.

check kbb values, take a trip up there make sure you like the car and everything is sound and try to get the best deal you can get. worst thing that could happen is you decide not to buy the car and you lose a day's worth of time and some gas money. best case scenario, you find a nice manual solara, slap a supercharger on that bad boy and have a blast!

1.9 60 foot and a 12.9 at 110mph with the 10-12 psi pulley and all the mods that I have listed to sell on BFG Drag Radials and C16 race fuel. Street tuned FDFR 4 Life. If you don't know what that means it is four door family racing. It's all about the 4 door. It was my wife's daily driver with the 5-7 PSI pulley running a 13.8 at 101 like clockwork. People hated us on the street.---LOL That made it all the more worth it while handing out a spank'n with a baby seat in the back to Vettes and my favorite the pony boys.

That's how I know.
