Its just the springs with my stock shocks. They werent designed to be much stiffer than stock...they were meant more visual improvment.

I think those things would improve the look of your car, and even enhance the look of the rim. Though truthfully, you dont have a crazy amount of wheel gap...just a bit. My maxima almost looked like a monster truck before i lowered it.

if your planning on lowering your gen2, and you want to use oem parts, swap out your struts and get the "sport package" struts. it makes a difference. i have a 04 sle with se sport struts and eibach lowering springs. not that bad of a combo

well, my concerns about lowering are; #1 ride quality. #2 back end can only drop about a 3/4" - 1" at the most and the front needs to drop closer to 1 3/4" - 2" tops. and to be honest i dont know about cutting out the wheel wells and whatnot and don't know if thats something i would even like done. #3 along with the last concern goes that i have to be carefull lowering in the front as the actually rim extends further than the rubber so rubbing when i turn would be a major issue. unfortunatley even living in a "rich" city, there aren't any real major tuner shops in town. not that i would trust MY car to. lol. so for now im checkin out the webbernet for ideas/info.

I think the car looks nice so far. I'm reading that you want the luxury look. I wouldn't lower it then but i would put some non flashy rims on it. Then i would probably redo the interior to be a flat black and probably get a woodgrain steering wheel from a lexus. Then I would add navigation and a backup camera to give it the features of most luxury cars out there. Thats just my opinion. Good luck with the project. I hope it turns out well for you.

I care more about a quality intake or exhaust than my cars rims esp around here with the snow and hidden curbs. I also probably would not enjoy the 1/2 second they would cost me on the 1/4 mile.

Again - adjustable Coilovers will be your best bet. Good ride and handling and you can set it as much as you need.

Also the TRD Rear Sway Bar will improve cornering the most - and the cheapest/easiest mod you will do for performance.

I think that it looks decent. A little to gaudy for me but if its done right on the Gen 2 body it will look CLEAN. I for one like the tuner look cuz those are too busy for me. But the car really has a nice look.

well, i won't ever just use a coilover again. so it's either gonna be just the proper lowering springs or i re-do the entire suspension w/shocks/struts, and some quality coilovers. too many manufacturers of coilovers claim to have the a coilover for a "07 Solara" or whatever but it's not a spring thats made for an "07 Solara" it's just a junk generic spring that will fit on that car. don't feel like destroying my shocks this time around (old car) so maybe ill start a thread on suspension package opinions and see if i can't gather a concesus of some sort.

Oh - I musta missed that in the discussion prior.... what brand did you try before?

I've heard only good things from others about their CO's - check out Posh's ride for example: http://www.solaraguy.com/viewtopic.php?t=40100

I've ridden in the back of this ride and it's smooth.
