spark plugs... Gaps Prices Denso Vs. NGK

Hello
I already read the threads posted on this stuff, but still kind of confused...

I have a v6 '99 with 68k miles and it is probably time to replace those platinum plugs. So I am choosing between the Denso IK20's and the NGK IX. But when I go to sparkplugs.com and enter my car info I see different gap sizes for the NGK(.044") vs the Denso(.035")... but the Haynes says to use .043", it also says not to alter the pregapped iridium plugs.

are the DENSO's acceptable with the this gap size?

the IX(7.32 each vs Denso 11.99) are less expensive at sparkplug.com and if both type of plug is sufficient then I would go with the less expensive one.

can anyone point me in the right direction?? :drinking:

The Denso's are more OEM than any other, or the NGK Laser Iridium. Still, a lot of people swear on the IK20 as being extremely good, IK22 (one heat range colder) for supercharged applications.

I'm going to see if Autozone nearby has the NGK Iridium IX cheap, or if I have to purchase online: $7.83 for my BKR6EIX-11 vs around $8 for the Laser Iridiums.

Lets see how it goes.

I swear by NGK. But I change them every oil change, so I'm a little paranoid.

Thanks for the link, krawzyazn, but unfortunately I already purchased them; that would have been a great steal!

They didn't have the Densos at Autozone nearby... so I went with the NGK Iridium IX for about $7.xx each. However, the NGKs are 0.6mm instead of 0.4mm for the Denso...hmm.

On other topic, I found they are bringing in Royal Purple 10W30 for about 8.99...not bad considering Mobil1 Synthetic is going for $7.50
