What happens if water pump fails?
My 99 Solara SE V6 has 160k miles on it with the original water pump. One of my friends has a Camry and said that her water pump failed while she was driving and it ended up doing $2000 in damage to her engine. This sounded kind of excessive to me. But regardless, what would happen to my engine if the water pump fails? I mean, as soon as it started to overheat, I'd pull over and turn the engine off. It's not like I would try to force the car to keep going or something. Thanks.
