Well, the 4 main things I'd say.

1: Make sure all the metal tubes are attached.

2: Make sure the silver metal part on the top of the SC (Thottle Body side) turns freely.

3: Spin the shaft that the pulley is on, and make sure is spins without getting hung up. Listen for any off metal noise from the bearings.

4: Change the oil. 2 reasons for that. Make sure there IS oil in it, and it should be changed once in a while.

If possible, check the oil in the nose. A lack of oil can lead to premature failure of the bearings, and a rebuild isn't cheap. Since most SCs are now getting older, be willing to deal with any maintenence issues that might arise.

Check if you get the oneway valve and egr tube with it.
Check the bearings of the pulleys....or better replace them with new ones.

Before you install the unit i would rebuild it with caremic bearings, new oil etc...
Then you are sure you have no problem for many miles.

There are a couple of plastic rivets that hold the actuator onto the bracket so the metal arm can open and close the valve. If just one of the rivets is busted, you can jb-weld it tight—I actually did this with mine and it held up great.

If the diaphragm in the valve is torn, you'll have to replace the whole valve assembly. Check here if that's the case:

It;s about $60 to replace. You need to buy a new one ($35 I think, Dawgz here on the forum can give you info where to buy it), and then you just need to have the arm on it extended , so should cost you like $30 to have someone weld it. Thats actually a really normal part to break.

What is the price of the SC?

*Edit: just saw the info on a new one is in link above, lol.
