best way without crappy beam pattern is a DIY like posted above.

1. turn stick headlights in (without the bulbs, obviously) into a preheated oven ofr about 375 degrees.

2. leave in there for about 6-8 minutes ( I left mine in for about 10 )

3. take out, use flathead and metal thin spatula-thing, and pry the lense away from the housing

4. take out the chrome bezel thingy inside the lense

5. clean it off with alcohol pad and paint thinner (it's what I did anyways)

6. get some flat black (test the color against a piece of wood) paint

7. sand the area down with 600 grit sand paper (what I used)

8. apply moderate amounts of paint over the whole front of the bezel (and top since it shows inside the lense when mounted in)

9. Keep in mind to not use too hard of a spray or you'll get run-spots, so do quick but many layers of light coats.

10. Let it dry as it states (maybe about 1-2 hours, is what I did)

11. get some black silicone and sealant, available at autozone or home depot, and reseal the inside edges of the oem housing (the black part).

12. put everything back together and squish it togeter and shove the headlights (not literally) back into the oven

13. i left mine in there for about 5-6 minutes

14. take the headlights out and let it cool (clamp down as much as possible with those giant clothespin things

15. done.

thats what I did with mine and I have no moisture issues or fading paint or a crappy beam pattern. I wish I had pics of the tutorial but no dice, I'm much too busy with other projects. Hope this helps.

Ive been trying to get this question answered for a while now.
How much better of a result do you get by using flat
black, as opposed to using glossy black???
Pics anyone, anybody???

I only made ONE thread about it! Nobody answered me back so I let it go. Then members kept bringing it up so I added my opinion. I know how to search and spell. Searching this forum is awesome! I have found out so much about my Solara on this site.

This isn't even my thread, it's WID's thread.
