I am running 215/55 on my stock 16s and they're much fatter than the rims. When I first did the switch I asked the tire dude about 225 and he said that he wouldn't try it.

they will work, but they're going to have the trapezoid effect.

is that where they bulge in the center because the wheel is to skinny for the width of the tire?

You can get them on the wheel, but they'll bulge a lot and it will be pretty obvious that they don't fit right.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! You don't want a wider tire for snow!! Thats more snow the tire needs to push out the way. Stay with a stock size winter tire. I also used to work at a tire shop

I have had at least 3 sets of 225/55-16 tires on my 99 SE V6 without a problem. The 50's would be a little lower profile and might be more difficult to get on the 6" wide rims than my 55's. With the 225/55-16's, they bulge quite a bit on the rims.

exactly right. You absolutely DO NOT want a wider tire for snow...it will turn your tires into skis instead of digging through the snow/slush. you need a narrow tire for this application.

yup tall and narrow is the best for snow. Wider snow tires will perform worse then you're all season tires. The winter tires will fit, but you will want to take them immediately off after driving through snow. Even in dry situations, they will perform awfully.
