Automatic headlights

Automatic headlights

Postby ThurzNite » Sat Nov 01, 2008 4:23 pm

I want my automatic headlights to come on earlier. When I'm in an underground garage, sometimes the haedlights don't come on (not dark enough) but I want them to. And today it's raining, but the lights don't come on (DRL works, but I want headlights). How do I change the sensitivity of the sensor? Thanks!

Find someone who tints windows....and put a small piece of 35% tint over the light sensor on the dash....it'll trick the car into thinking that its darker than it really is.

Doing this though will proably make it come on on a more than normal cloudy day..and it will for sure come on underground.

Thanks for the replies. They're great ideas. I was hoping for something more transparent and less 'MacGyver-ish'. Is there a way to reprogram the sensitivity? Thanks!

Cool idea, but too much work for such a small thing, when you could just turn the headlight switch.

There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the light sensor. If putting a small piece of tint it too much work, I suggest just using your light switch as suggested above.

Truthfully, I think that trying to find a way to reprogram the headlight module would take a lot more time.

Do any of you guys have the RS3000 security system? I thought I saw it in the programming manual in there. But I don't have access to the manual. Can somebody check that for me? thanks.

Nevermind, non-adjustable, unless I change the sensor. I'll see about doing that.

Yeah, it's a rather nice concept; but taking nearly 30 seconds to activate/deactivate is a bit far fetched compared to what you see in newer cars... But then again that's coming from a person who's too tired to just flip the damned switch after 8 hours of work + the occasional 3 hours overtime after work, or well... By the time the automatic headlights kick in during a tunnel or an underpass with a long signal, you're already out and back into sunlight, thus almost defeating the purpose.

Heck, I've even went to the LAX underpass without the lights turning on on time (I was 1 second away from the other end), and that's the longest underpass I've been in!

I just leave my headlights on all the time.

I haven't had a problem burning bulbs with the extended use, and B/C the car shuts them off automatically I never have to worry about it.

I'm thinking of leaving mine on all the time... but I sorta like the 35 watt city lights, instead of full on headlights.
