I know that there isnt a gen2 'lara specific cold air intake, but has anyone managed to make a cold air intake fit on a gen2?

also, what exactly is the difference? I understand the basics, but does anyone have opinions on which is better?

Thanks a bunch guys

well its still a cold air intake... its just a short ram intake... you can fabricate your own extension, or even relocate the battery... but none the less its still a cold air intake

Yeah - no kits available off the shelf. Most have modified a SRI like Injen or CPE with an extension tube and relocated the battery as advised above.

FWIW, the SRI is NOT a CAI as it actually sucks in more hot air than the OEM airbox, although if you're moving, it can suck in a LOT more air than OEM and get some blow-through from the grille.

If you have the 3.3L V6 engine then yes i was also stuck in the same position like you so all i did was get my friend to custom bend me a 3'' pipe to fit all the way down behind my left fog... it took like 4 fuggin hours but it was well worth it... The injen and CP-E are both SRI's and both suck in hot air into ur engine... the only thing they really do is deliver more quantity of air to your engine... but the downside they both have is that they sit right next to the battery... an engine bay on a hott summer day can reach up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit.. if you build a custom cold air intake and route it farther away from your engine... you can pickup air at nearly outside temprature... which is A LOT better! :) trust me.... i have had the injen and i have also now have the cold air... get the cold air! you wont pass smog so keep ur stock intake just incase you have to deal with that mess in ur area.... so yeah.... Go buy a 3'' stainless steel pipe... find a local shop or friend who can help you out with that and locate it the filter all the way behind ur foglight.. and definitely get the heat shield because not only will it save you a few extra degrees but since its located behind the fog... during a rainy day water can hop right on into that area so you want to have some type of protection to repel water u know?... so yeah.. and all minor parts such as those hose adaptors and fasteners.. u can buy all those at your nearby autozone or kragen... and as for the MAF sensor housing..u can find adaptors for those as well to weld right onto ur pipe... trust me it will take time and thinking..but in the end... that Roar that you hear from the filter!! and the extra push you will feel... makes it all very worth it ! ... damn i write a lot.... :-?
