Did any of you guys took off the shims from the stock pads and reuse them?
Or did you just took the whole thing out and just slide in the new pads?
:D :D

bah

i tossed mine in the spare parts box

no diff in stopage, sound, or durability of pad, in my experience. i always thought they were there to prevent squealing....

plus, depending on what pads you get, they may come with shims integrated into the pad.

my ceramic pads came with new textured shims, my old ones were toast, since your taking the time to take your brakes apart, go ahead and use the new shims.

The pads I were using had built in shims. At first I re-used the old shims and all was well until I did the other side...the shim was causing the pads to contact the rotor, essentially locking up the brakes. I couldn't get the wheel spinning. Without the old shims I was left with some play. In the end I just tossed the old shims and let the whole thing seat on its own.
