changing out wood grain

changing out wood grain

Postby mightymouse402 » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:57 pm

Hi everybody,

I would like to know if any of you have changed the wood grain in your cars to a different color. If you have, how did you do it and where did you get it? I want to change the color of the wood grain inside the car to match the paint on the inside.

Your responses are appreciated.

Thanks! :)
That's what she said...

You could take off the “replica” wood and paint it. I think the wood looks awesome but it is just fake plastic, it should be easy to prep and paint to match your exterior.

I would recommend: take the door panels off (four bolts) and carefully cut the panels out from the back. There are about five brown plastic welds that hold it in the door panel. If you carefully grind them off with a file or dermal tool, they should come right out. You could then paint them and then replace them. Then simply glue those plastic welds with a little epoxy.

Good luck! (I would still leave it wood)

I did that to my car.. Make sure you use a paint that will stick to plastic. CLEAR COAT will be your best friend when it comes to durability, especially the piece around the gear shifter

Check out my car domain. I had mine painted the color of my car. Just to save you the hassle you can just break the door pieces off without taking the door panels off. Just do it carefully. 3M double sided tape will do the job just fine sticking them back on!

Looks nice. I had mine painted to match the exterior, it was sexy! Then I decided to mess it up and wrap it in carbon fiber. I don't have any pics of the cf but here is the sexy silver http://www.cardomain.com/ride/684151/2

I've seen Chris' solara in person and the interior color-match is the best I've seen. The tan and autumn red mica combo is sweet!

I got the idea from a post i read on another forum.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthrea ... ber+fabric

This is a cloth / fabric. I sprayed the trims with 3M adhesive and then wrapped the fabric on tightly.

The feel is cloth-like (NOT PLASTIC!!) and u can actually feel the texture like leather...
