Need help with removing panel

Need help with removing panel

Postby Frico » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:33 pm

I have not posted here in such a long time but I visit here from time to time. I still enjoy my 2007 SLE CONV but I am in need of your help. Im looking to fish a wire from the top of the inside of the windsield to along the side of the driver side panel and down to underneath the steering area. The problem Im having is I dont want to damage the upper panel by the windshield and any advice on removing it will be helpful. The pic below will show what Im referring to. Thank you in advance....

if its the same as the coupes, that piece has 2 clips.. these clips are very resilient unlike the ones holding other panels which i have broke dozens of
you can pretty much pull on it like Ruski said.. i pulled it a couple times myself to splice into the domelite wire

Thanks you guys. This will help me alot when I do the project. I plan to add a Autosonar backup up system to my SLE. I plan to mount the display system on top of the rearview mirror and thats why I needed the info on the panels. Im trying to make it look as clean as possible. Again Thank you all.

Yes, be careful with them. The one on my driver side has been broken twice now. Once at the dealership and once installing the radar detector. If it's broke, it will fall down when you hit a bump, just like toyo chick said.

Well so far so good. I did not crack or snap off the clips., thanks to everyone's suggestions. I mannaged to fish the wiring from the top to the side of the windshield and under the door sill. Then all the way behind the back seats into the trunk. The next part is drilling the holes on the bumber and wiring the unit and hiding it somewhere in the trunk.

Have you tried a heavy duty velcro? The one pictured can be found at LOWE'S for about 4 dollars. Just remember to clean the area that you place it on with some rubbing alcohol first.
