R1Concepts Drilled&Slotted and Axxis Pads

After running on these new rotors and pads, i noticed a humming sound from the brakes when braking at around 50km/h. Its fine when im at higher speed, but when i reach to 60-50 km/h or so, the humming sound starts for a sec or 2 until around 30-20km/h...

Is this normal?

often times you will hear a noise with slotted rotors that could be described as a hum, i think its from the slots... i know i heard it on my solara.

These were installed for about a month.

are those r1 rotors pretty legit? im skeptical to buy any off brand rotor after the experience i had with the ones i got at pep boys.

the hum is usually from the whirr of the rotor against the pad.

this is because of the slotting

i have had this happen on my current setup (sp performance rotors dimpled/slotted with axxis organic pads)

so far, it has NOT pre-maturely worn down my pads (have had the axxis organics on for at least 8 months, probably closer to a year now).

I'm loving these rotors as well. They just saved me yesterday when some retard decide to step on the brake in the middle of a bridge.

Im deciding to paint my calipers too. However, i have no idea how to "bleed" the brake fluid.

Any thoughts / suggestions? Or should i just take it to a local garage and have them do it for me?

Sound like one of these spinning very fast.

you can do it yourself...no need to take the calipers off, unless you want to. I just masked everything I didn't want painted with painters tape and plastic bags. take some sand paper or a wire brush to the calipers, wipe them down, paint and let dry. Go to Autozone or the like and get a can of VHT...they sell in a variety of colors.
