window issues

Postby aleki2424 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 11:27 am

Hi guys. As with some people I have been having issues with the driver's side window working intermittently. It finally died and I was in the process of changing the motor when i noticed that there is absolutely no current in the wiring that powers it.
I know that there is a fuse that links to the windows/locks but the passenger window works just fine. i also have a new relay/switch thing, so what gives? anyone got ideas..

could be a problem with the one-touch-down limiter. the current must go through it before it gets to the actual motor,

I've just gotten hit with the same or similar issue. My Solara was parked for several weeks and the battery terminals had corroded so bad that the car wouldn't start. After cleaning the terminals and reconnecting the battery, all was well, except my drivers side window won't work now. Everything else works perfectly, including the passengers window. It has given no signs of wearing out previously and worked perfectly the last time I drove it. I've checked all of the fuses that I can find and they are all fine.

you probably want to take the motor housing apart and inspect the coiling. then look at the cable spool and if there is anything amiss, then you are probably going to need another motor.
there was nothing wrong with mine and even after all the diagnostics , i couldnt get it to work.today morning it was working like normal . ill still keep researching though

i suspect your drs side master window switch is bad. the fusing and relay power all come from the same place for both windows. the drs side power or switching goes through a solid state switch to control the auto down. i believe this section is bad. replace the switch and you should be good. unless a bad motor took out the switch. check the motor with a jump box. positive on one side gnd on the either. then switch em to make it go the other direction.
