Group Buy: Projector Headlights

I read through the thread and Im interested in working with your community.

1. We dont sell anything but a service and provide the final product. This means you either need to send in a et of lights, or we can order a set for you and add them to your invoice. We only do HID projector conversions, meaning they are all D2S projectors, top quality. Its more expensive this way then buying a set of ebay projector headlights, but the results are worth it. We also dont work with aftermarket projector headlights, only oem or oem replica.

2. Turn around time for a retrofit is usually 3 business days. There is however a short waiting list for you to get in the door. Usually about a 3 week waiting time.

3. Answered.

4. If you send in a set of headlights, the price is:

$625 TSX Projector Retrofit - Includes Projectors, Labor, Misc. Materials, and Your choice of shrouds (covers projectors)

$800 S2000 Projector Retrofit - Includes Projectors, Labor, Misc. Materials, and Your choice of shrouds (covers projectors)

$700 TFX Bixenon Projector Retrofit - Includes Projectors, Labor, Misc. Materials, and Your choice of shrouds (covers projectors)

Now you still need a set of HID ballasts and bulbs, as well as a wiring harness if you want to do it right.

We offer the 35w D2S kits (your choice of color temp) for $200, the harness is $60.

Angel eyes added on are $75, and painting is an additional amount depending on what you need/want painted.

I know a lot of people are expecting lights for around $300, but thats not something thats possible with a retrofit. The labor alone is more then that. There is a huge difference in terms of quality and performance between the ebay projector headlight or the oem projector retrofit. I can type here are all day about the differences. If your interested in learning more or have questions, feel free to call me and we can discuss more.

Actually that's a better price than what I've been seeing elsewhere.

Now we're back at retrofitting though as opposed to whole headlight assemblies.

As long as the price is right though, I don't really care if it's retro or not. IMHO.

The companies will make so much money if they did the headlights for $300. but yea i def agree with bronze that we should try contacting a major company. the demand is so high on these headlights that i think for $300 a good portion of people on here will get them. Not to mention what the company could do with them on ebay... just try contacting some bigger company guys.

OK.

Just wondering who's still alive on this. It's going to be a long read but I hope it answers some questions.

Sounds like you really have a lot of people asking about these?! The biggest challenge right now is to be able to have one of these lights here at the shop so I can get a better idea of what it is that I need to do. Like you said, using OEM projectors such as the TSX are already super expensive. A good way to cut cost down would be using a "fake" projector and not having it be HID, but just give it a projector look. Many lights are this way. Hell, my Denali uses a "fake" projector with a typical halogen bulb. From anyone on the outside, the projector looks real enough, but if you were to open the lights, you can see that its not a fully enclosed projector like you'd typically see on high end cars (though Mercedes isn't either, so ... ). Many people request that for G35's because they already have a real projector, but want the bottom to match it and keep it looking OEM.

Again, it's tough to say with out having the lights here. Like I said, I would normally charge $1500 for a set of retrofits using authentic OEM projectors of what ever type would fit best and use HID. If you could gather at least 10 people who wanted the real deal retrofit, I'd drop the cost to about $1000 a piece. Still, if you want cheaper than this, we can do the cheaper version of a retrofit using halogen bulbs and a less costly projector for probably around $700 with 10 people. This is just a rough guess though having not seen what the inside of the light looks like or the difficulty in taking it apart. Some are REALLLLLLY gay to tare down. Still, I think if you can gather that sort of crowd, those prices will be really close to what you can expect.

Hope this helps? Please call me if you need anything more. Thanks! Nic

MSG 2:
The more people you can get, the better. If you can gather more than 10, I may be able to get the price down even more yet, but of course everything would have to be paid up front so I can pay my suppliers. As for the lab rat discount, generally we do $500 plus shipping for those people who send us something we haven't worked on yet. This price would include just about any and everything we can think up BUT a retrofit or a crazy paint scheme. Now because we're talking about a doing a huge number of people, I can change that deal to allow for a retrofit THIS time.
How bout this? First 2 people get the job done for $500. Next 8 people who can all pay together will get it for $750. If you can get more than 8 people, i'll drop it down to $700 and will include free shipping in the lower 48.
This will just cover the retrofit though. If they want any sort of LED or halo work, it'll be a little extra. I can be flexible on that as well. Just let me know. Thanks!

Nic

So...who would like a retrofit done to their headlights for $500?

I'm still waiting on ONE more message about halogen projectors and making a set out of scratch using someone's headlights as a template. Before I get a response from SG members I'd like to put up one more message...

^^I would definitely pay $500 for a retrofit...assuming that they are true HID retrofits. Even better if I could re use my H4 HID's.

$500 and a set of headlights my friend, that's all he needs. You get to be the guinea pigs and like he said, "any and everything" they can think off will be done excluding a crazy paint schemes. Retrofit will be included.

First two only though, the rest of us will have to settle for $700 retros.

I'm sure you could also provide your own HIDs but then I'd wait on that because the price might jump back up due to it being a single custom service as opposed to the same service for multiple people. If you get my drift.

He pretty much said whatever will fit. He's probably going to mess around with a bunch of projectors and go from there.

I got one person who's interested as a guinea pig, anyone else?

I dont understand, so we will have to send him our headlights... is that it? why are people talking about bulbs? couldnt we just put in whatever bulb assembly we had once the retrofitted headlights come in?

I have no idea where this is currently headed.

What he wants is a set of headlights to work off of. He's giving the opportunity for two (2) members to send in their headlights to experiment with for $500 each pair. So far we have no donors. What would be ideal is to have one pair of gen 1 and one pair of gen 1.5. From there a price will be worked out since there are this many members interested.

Although, at this point I'm about ready to do my own retrofit and save a few hundred dollars on labor costs.

We can definitely get this going still though if there are some donors.
