Wondering steering

Postby rivieraron » Wed Sep 17, 2008 2:45 pm

I have a 1999 Solara with the TRD suspension. It has the Bilstein struts with 90,000 miles on it. I just replaced the coil springs with new OEM stock springs because the TRD springs were cracked and are hard to find. The aftermarket made it sit too low in the rear and made the rear tires rub on the inner quarter lip. I have 17" wheels with 225/45r17 tires, just had a four wheel align done and the car seems to pull and drift all over the road. Any suggestions of what could cause this?

A bad alignment? Did u get a read out of ur alignment? Itll show u how it was when u brought it in, and how it is when they are done, and then it tells u how the new adjustments are within specifications.

Also, can u give a bit better description when u say it wanders around the road?

My tires were starting to cup on the inside that's why I had the alignment done. Could it come from the type of tires? They are Mastercraft Avengers that were on the car when I bought it.

where did you have it aligned at? Also does it have aftermarket adjustable camber, tie rod, etc? If not then you will not be able to achieve optimal alignment, unless you invest more money into her.

Replace your tires. The alignment won't really fix the tire problem unless you replace them. Might be that the tires are worn just enough to be a problem.

Seeing as how your TRD springs recently gave out, they probably caused your cupping which in turn puts you where you are now.
