Your not stepping on feet, but what did you mean by red flag?

Im pretty sure someone remembers the twin turbo setup on a 1MZ, it wouldnt fit our engine bay since it was made for the sienna, but still, the concept is viable

^ I agree

unless, of course, you're tony, who has the knowledge and resources to make whatever he can dream up happen...such as dismantling his 540whp single turbo 1mz setup in favor or a twin turbo setup with a bit less max power, but greater torque, less lag, and the ability to fry his front tires at 80mph if he chooses to downshift

this debate is useless
do whatever pleases you man, nothings stopping you. I put my ideas out there saying I will accomplish certain things with my car and in one believes me. I run through my trials just like anyone else who had ever been on a quest for more power.
A 3Sgte is a pretty good setup.. I've seen it on a few cars but have never had the oppurtunity to sit on one. Richard's 2AZ turbo in his widebody pulls HARD with plenty of torque and power for any daily driven car. Greg's 3mz/1mz SC with 6PSI pulley is a torque beast and will embaress evos and stis.
I will plan and execute a 3mz/1mz turbocharged engine and let all you guys know where it ends up. Perhaps another blown motor but at least I woulda tried. The whole idea is
Think of what you want
and don't stop till you accomplish it no matter what anyone tells you. Find out more info from those who've tried and failed, and tried and succeeded.

Another suggestion Get a 1mz engine , then contact Jim and get the low comp heads run 7 psi ...thats pretty daily driven and don't have to worry about frying ur internals .......

I think this will be cheaper than a complete build ...Im surprise not a lot members opted for this route ..........

^ why not?

because you can run 7psi without lower compression heads :)

but more so is the point as well, that if you're going to pay that kind of money for lower compression heads, you better run more than just 7psi. at the lower compression, the 7psi is no better than running 5.5psi or 6psi, just it puts less strain on the engine.

but for the money that they wanted for the lower compression heads and the labor that they want to install it....you could buy two 1mz's from a junkyard and drop them in if/when you blow your current block.

I personally think that lowering the compression on the engine is a good idea....if you're also going to build the internals and then go highboost. otherwise, it's a lot of money for not much more but a bit of peace of mind for the paranoid people

Doesn't it require a V6 auto or manual tranny in order to swap in a 3SGTE? In order to handle the extra power since I really don't think a 5SFE tranny can.

I agree with many of the previous posters.

If you have the money and want something different? do whatever you want. (I like the ls1 suggestion: lotsa support and easy, big power) BUT: you're talking several tens of thousands of dollars for the whole RWD setup (IMO much more than 200 hp at the front wheels is not useful)

If you just want to go fast on the cheap (cheap here being a relative term) sure, get a trans am, mustang or the like, and put $5,000 into the engine. Boom: 400+ whp and the gas tank gets really small.

The same can be said for many cars that have pre-made, bolt on (or common engine swap) power.

The problem with big power out of a Solara is you have to make most everything yourself, or pay someone to do custom work.

What is changed?
