I have seen a post in the past with the same problem but i couldnt find it.

My air ventillation fan (if thats how u call it) stopped working on speed 1 and 2, but works fine on 3 and 4. I have the knob switch (non digital) system.

How can I fix this? Im freezing with the AC, otherwise i have to be swetting

Thanks guys

It's under the passenger side dashboard, close to the centre console I believe. I've replaced it on mine a while back (also manual, turn knobs for heat, etc), very easy.

I think the resistor was something like less than $30 new at a dealership, and it's just a matter of unscrewing and unplugging the old one, and putting in the new one.

now the thired speed stopped working too... is there a resistor for for each speed? i thought there were only high/low... but now 1-2 and 3 stopped working so...

what might be causing the resistors to burn?

I got the resistor and installed it, but now speed 1 and 4 work only. 2 and 3 still dont work.

does it mean that the resistor is deffective or... ?

I did not install it back inside the duct with the screws... i just plugged it and tested it.

btw, the old resistor was all rusted out... looked like crap.

I'm pretty sure the resistor needs to be installed and secured for it to work.

Resistors will fail in the way you described yours failing. It will start with the low speeds and work its way higher. If it doesn't work once you install it correctly and you're still not getting speeds 2 and 3, I'd try to return it to the dealer. If 1 and 4 are working, either the resistor is defective, or there may be a problem with your blower switch now...

p.s. If your dealer was like the ones I've worked for, it'll be hard to get a refund on the resistor. They don't like taking back electrical parts. However if it is defective, they will give you a new one under warranty. Only problem is, you have to prove it's defective. That usually requires you to have their service department look at it.
