3mz/1mz hybrid engine

3mz/1mz hybrid engine

Postby Gregtrd » Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:42 am

A quick update on the progress of my 3mz/1mz supercharged set up, I have now replaced my stage 3 clutch(spec) with a new one and still breaking it in, only 200 miles on it. With the 1mz set up I was boost'n 5.5 psi it pulls petty hard but now with the 3mz in there it pulls way stronger, and my boost gauge now only read a steady 3psi at full throttle, at high rpm 6k to about redline it'll creep to 3.5 to 4psi. can't wait to dyno. I'm thinking of building another 3mz/1mz hybrid if anyone is interested it'll be a straight drop in, down time should take 1 day(actually 8hrs ask tracey). As soon as i dyno my car I post a dyno sheet.

Not yet. I think gabe does though. I'm thinking later on for me. I'm going with the 6psi pulley 2.8 that should keep the boost at 4psi.

Not sure yet, all I need so far is the 3mz block, head gaskets, and power stiring pump 3mz of course.I'm very surprise how strong it pulls with only 3 psi.

good to hear....can't wait to see those dyno sheets to compare!

so I gather that you're only running the 4psi pulley right now?

Where do you think the power comes from, just the extra bore size? Compression?

I'm sure it is the higher bore. The compression should be the same since the stroke is the same and the head remains also the same. Maybe the bore makes the compression rate decrease a bit compare to a stock 1MZ.

No I running my 5.5 pulley, but with the 3mz block, it only reads 3psi, so I'm going with the 6psi pulley, ill play it safe for now. I think that the reason for the psi drop is because the pulleys are intened for a 3.0 an not a 3.3 engine.
