A friend of mine owns an 02 Solara V6 and he's Traction Control just recently came "off" and wouldn't turn back on. Any of you guys ever had this problem before???

Does it work?? Try spinning the tires. What happens.
Pull the negative on the battery and reset the ecu.
I WISH mine would turn off and NEVER come back on.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

The TRAC OFF light will come on for a few reasons

1. the traction control is turned off

2. the check engine light is on, the trac system is bypassed when the engine light is on

3. when there is a problem with the traction control system, its like a check engine light for that particular system. you can hook it up to a Toyota scan tool to read the codes, I don't know of any other generic scan tool that can access those codes. or you can try what JavaJoe said and reset the system and see what happens.

YEs he's CEL light was on due to a bad "front" oxygen sensor...the funny thing was he brought the car in today to get it fixed and he just found out that his Solara came all the way from California so they had to charge him extra since it was "Cali Spec"...

The front o2 sensor ur talking about isnt an o2 sensor if its cali spec.

Its an A/F Sensor, which is $250 a piece.

^ lol not quite...

the people who HAVE traction control are the rare ones, since the prerequisite for it was an SLE trim, first of all, and then it was an extra $500 or so on top for TRAC....
