Does the 4cylinder have V-tech sure h**s feels like it...today i raced a 350z i knew i was out of my league but i gave it a try and dan my solara dip. it was on a open road no traffic. this was my first race with a 350z and man my solara dip from a stand still 0-80mph really quick but she started to lose power at 80mph, but man for real my solara felt like she had vtech or vvti but that Z strated to leave me once i reached 42mph then we did a rolling start from 80mph and man i was happy again but that Z is a machine i could never beat that car in a rolling start lol. i was really happy with my solara today..the fastest i drove today was 100mph the most happiest 100mph ever. :)..and the first time i saw US-1 in homestead that empty before.

i never tried it.. but it was amazing...i would like to drive the v6 solara and see how those will perform against the 350z and other cars...i raced this friend of my mind a while back he has a mitsubshi eclispe 2000 4cylinder.. This car is really light and his car is manual and mines is auto but still we took off to 60 mph and he only got 3 car links and too me thats good you my ask why its because the solara is a really heavy and the mitsu isn't have you noticed even the mitsu rim's are lighter then the solara's... and i have a 5sfe 2.2liter and he has a 2.4liter with an evo block. do the math..he should have eat me lol. but y'all my think i race alot but i dont this race with the mitsu was like a month ago. i consider my car as a luxury camry which gets good gas milage.

U guys sound silly... the 5S-FE engine does not have VVT-i. However the Gen 1.5 and Gen 2 4 Cyl. have the VVT-i in the 2AZ-FE. IMO the closest thing to VTEC is VVTL-i thats in the Celica GT-S.

As for the 1MZ VS Z... the Z pulls crazy fast so i never tried especially after i drove my friend's HR Z home from the dealership b/c he didnt know how to drive manual at the time. :drinking:

I would say

VTEC is static (mechanical link) managing intake and exhaust valve with lift

VVT-i is variable (hydraulic link) managing only intake valve

Correction, The 2.4 is a 4g64 block, not a 4g63. The 4g64 has never been in a evo or mirage(baby evo). The 4g64 is however in the second gen. eclipse GS Spyder.

Only way he COULD have a 4g63 in there is if he bored one and bought the 2.4 stroker. But honestly why do that if it's not turbo'ed. Plus I'm pretty sure the engine and trans mounts are different on the 3g's compared to the 1st and 2nd gen.

I know my car doesn't have vvt-i or v tech i'm just saying it felt like it..that day was amazing two thumbs up for the solara vs the z..almost forgot the road was wet and the z had no traction neither did mines but i gain my trac sooner then him so i had him at the launch but man when that z gain traction it passed me fast lol..i'm think if i can put A torque converter so i wouldn't lose traction on the launch or in turns..also I'm think to put a TRD muffler and a minor performance upgrade just enough to beat a hybrid camry lol..yea i lost by 2 car links

ITS VTEC, NOT VTECH NOOBS!!!

Now that that is cleared up, my 5sfe auto camry is as fast as my bicycle... for sure would not be close to a Z. If you watch my video of me racing a z with high flow cats in my manual supercharged v6 at 6 psi and BARELY pulling on it, youll get whta I mean... you sure the z was racing?
