I started to shave my emblems tonight and I got the rear TOYOTA off and the toyota symbol but they are leaving behinf this... stuff.... foamy glue stuff... and its really hard to get off and all that its doing is making me impatient. (I broke my TOYOTA emblem  ) Could anyone give me any tips on shaving the emblems? Some pictures would be nice...

my entire process:
1. dental floss the emblems off
2. goo-off/carefully use thumbnail to remove old glue and misc crud
3. on a paper towel, griots garage fine machine polish to remove the lines of dirt left on there
4. after a lil rinse to ensure the polish was gone, throw some wax on there and buff it to a shine

I shaved some of my emblems on my 99.

Use an hairdryer + GOO GONE

Never use "goo-off", it's way too powerfull and will remove your paint.
Goo-gone is safe for paint.

^^^^ i also used my finger nail and a heat gun.

HEated it up and rubbed it off with the finger.

As for the color difference, i used rubbing compound and wax.

RESULT:

I finished taking off the emblems today with the right tools. Here is what I did:

1-Took a heat gun and lightly heated up the emblems (low power)

2-Used a paint scraper and scraped off the hot emblems (careful not to scratch the paint)

3-Heated up the emblem glue leftover and used my fingernail and laquer thinner to scrape the rest of the glue off. (burnt finger lol  )

4-Used a buffer and white compund first (buff for about 45 seconds using more compound halfway through)

5-Used a buffer and grey polish (buff for about 45 seconds using more polish halfway through)

6-Used spray 24K Gold Wax with a light buffing for about 20 seconds.

7-Look at your reflection! :D

I did that too. Frst shaved all but after few days I felt too naked lol. So I bought brand new chrome "Solara" and "cowboy sign", before I had ugly peelling gold emblems. Make the car look like new again.
