Celica owner - Just bought a Solara

My name is Stephanie, I've had my '97 Celica for over 4 years now, I'm a service advisor at a Toyota dealership and I just bought a '99 Solara SE.

I actually bought it for my sister to use when she gets her license so it's pretty basic. Silver w/ black cloth interior, 4cyl, power windows and locks, no sunroof. The motor is seized so it doesn't run right now but the body is straight.

I found the car on craigslist and went to go see it on Sun (7/6). I borrowed the flatbed truck and someone who knows how to drive it from work and picked up the car on Tues. Right now it's in the back of the lot at work and yesterday I started taking it apart.

The plan is to use one of the 2 spare 5S Celica blocks we have and swap over the head and everything else from the Solara then just drop it in.

Anyway, here are some pictures...

And this is money pit, I mean my baby :o
'97 Celica ST, 207k miles on ODO, completely rebuilt motor has 11k miles on it, swapped 5pd manual (2 years ago), TRD quickshifter, WebCams custom reground camshafts, Exedy Stage2 Racing clutch, GT front and rear disc brake conversion, Tein springs, OEM UK front splitters, JDM tail lights, custom rear lip spoiler. By the end of the summer we will install my $6k turbo setup :D

Welcome to SolaraGuy.

Looks like your Solara needs a little work and a little TLC.

Congrats on the new car (for your sister)

Thanks,

I live in Newport and work in Bristol. I'm actually from Jersey originally.

Thanks no_escape. I love my Celica, I've spent way too much money on it over the years and it's finally come to a point where I'm not sure what to do with it next.

The Solara does need a little TLC, but I need a new project anyway. :)

Sweet Celica!

You obviously know what you're doing so I can imagine the Solara is in good hands and will be up and running in no time!

Welcome to SG! :)

True, it does come to that point. Cars, with the right people, become apart of us... like children or what have you. 8)

When your celica is boosted, maybe you'll want to have a new child(car) and start from scratch again.
