IAC Checkvalve

IAC Checkvalve

Postby ndeguzma » Mon Jul 07, 2008 12:47 pm

I've searched the forced induction posts and I can't seem to find anything on this.

Anyway, I am in the middle of installing my SC that I bought a year ago. I was collecting parts that were missing from the kit, mainly the alternator bolt (thanks, dawgz). Also, this kit came with an auto EGR tube and I have a 5sp, so I had to swap out the EGR cooler (what a hassle, as it took me 4 hours and busted knuckles).

I realize my kit did not come with the IAC checkvalve. Does anyone know where I can get one or something like it? Would a PCV valve work?

Thanks in advance as any advice would be appreciated.

u can get this at the toyota dealership, its just a regular check valve.

I believe u can use the one identical to ur brake booster's check valve.

PCV valve will work, but you may have to play around with the hose sizes. I've also heard of people using the brake booster valve like dawgz mentioned.

I can sympathize with your egr cooler swap hassle. I swapped mine and it was some of the most frustrating work I've done on a car yet, go figure.

^ Ditto, neither of us have them (Although, they are Gen 3's.)

Or just hit the dealer. I get all my stuff at Toyota of Stamford. Order before 4pm (Try to get there before 3), and it's normally in next day.

Thanks all, got my checkvalve ordered.

Hopefully I can finish this weekend. I have the vacuum lines to do, put the throttle body back on, install the pulley plate & belt and replace the coolant, that made a mess after changing the EGR cooler.

Good luck! Once you do this al the 1st time, it;s a piece of cake to do again. If for some reason you need Vacuume lines, just stop by AutoZone, they sell it by the foot.

Also, as a tip, get a long one for the PCV, and run over the valve cover, rather then under the SC, as it gets crimped.

I just installed my S/C and I did not install the check valve, and I am not having a problem. Hell I'm not even throwing a CEL. I have a Gen 1.

even thought u are not getting a CEL, which you wouldnt anyway, its just a check valve, its there for protection, its there to prevent anything from going back up the tube.
