40-45 is not recommended for the solara esp if you are lowered and when I had my 17's I had 45 series tires on them and still they got dinged up those rims are not that well built

i've been running 40 series on my rims ever since I've had the car lowered, not a big deal....but you would know better than I would about how those rims are built.

If I am to run 18", recommended size is 225/45 (235/45). Maybe Forged wheels would lower the problem frequency considerably?

I might try the 40 series. i'll just drop my coils a bit more to compensate for the added hight. 235/40/19
