Making some grounding wires

Ok, so I'm just gonna make my own grounding wires rather than pay an exuberant fee for some premade stuff I can do myself. Here's the site I've read to go to for ordering.

So 4AWG is what I'll need and how much of it should I order? Oh, and I know to get the gold plated terminals too.

i say 10 feet would be plenty, maybe even more than what you need

I say 10 AWG or 8 AWG should be good.
I think for the negative post 4 AWG will be good.
For what my post clamps look like:



For my positive clamp i have a 4 AWG wire goin' to the starter, and i just twisted the black and white wires together.
For my negative clamp i have a O AWG wire goin' to the transmission housin', and 4 AWG goin' to the OEM mountin' point.
The rest of the groundin' wires i have 10AWG i think.
I'm probably goin' to up them maybe to 8 AWG.
You can measure each OEM groundin' wire and go from there....

check their clearance listings....when i ordered, i got like 20 feet of wire for cheap (like 0.69/foot)

you should order your amount depending on how many wires you want to install. i would say order more than less (especially if you get a deal....), it sucks to have to pause the install because you ran out of wiring.

so far, i installed wires from my neg terminal to my chassis, to my stock ground point, also to my throttle body, from the TB i daisy chain around to the pass side intake manifold, and then daisy chain again to the pass side stock ground point. i think overall i used about 12 - 15 feet.

but to answer your original question: yes 4 awg is good, if you go any bigger (2awg) then you are gonna have a tougher time working with the wire (cutting it, crimping it, being able to bend it around components, etc).

I agree wit you on the thicker AWG wire.
My 0AWG is like a rope of wire.

Thanks for the info guys. I found a local stereo shop around here that was friendly as hell and I got ten feet of 4awg and platinum ring connectors. Didnt go with gold since I've heard about that chipping easy. Anyway, should be putting them on this weekend, along with my exhaust and plugs and wires

cuz 10 feet of 4 gauge wire and couple terminals is MUCH cheaper than a kit. That probably cost him less than half of the kit

shoot, for 45 bucks, i have a set installed in my car (5 or 6 lengths of wire), about 10 feet of extra wiring, and about a dozen extra terminal connectors.

....so realistically my kit cost me ~20 dollars, and about two hours of work (instead of costing 60 dollars and about a 45 minutes work).

plus it's really easy (i.e. if you know howto use a hammer, a pair of pliers, and a wrench set then you're good). unless you have zero technical knowledge of howto hammer, wrench, or ply, then it's almost foolish to buy them instead of make them.

and if you're talking about buying them, then you might as well just go through ebay and get a $9.99 set of universal ground wires.
