ok its been about 5 months since i installed the eric sol caiper mod with new pads. the calipers were never modded cuz i was lead to believe that was only necissary on the gen3 camry, but apparently not for reasons unknown to me. the rotors have been gouged a little by what appers to be the pad retainers but it stopped a long time ago. now when i drive in reverse...especially when turning, they squeel real loud. its constant while im moving but driving foward i have no problems.

ive looked and i cant see anywhere its rubbing or any recent gouge marks on the front or back of the rotor. anyone with this mod have any similar problems? thanks for any help.

i had what you are talking about. The supra rotors are thicker than what the camry uses. For me it was the metal shims in between the pad and caliper that made them rub. I just kept of filing/cutting to enlarge them until the problem went away.

Dunno if its a common problem. But maybe different rotors have different thickness? I'm using the brembo 98 Supra TT slotted before and it rubbed like crazy. Now im on 98 Supra TT brembo solids

no problems here either front or back...

but as we talked before, yeah....it' well worth it to grind the insides of the calipers down just a tad to avoid anything front scratching...

I also have to agree with castro on this one...since you say that it happens most of the time when turning in reverse, it's probably one side of the metal shims, or one side of the retainers...does both sides make the noise, or just one side?

start driving backwards in circles in a parking lot and get somebody to stand outside of the car to isolate the noise
