Postby Consolaro » Sun May 04, 2008 11:50 am

I am looking for a Solara Convertible with light interior and a 4 cylinder engine. Can anyone tell me about the time period they were made and the pros and cons of this model Solara?

Thanks from the Consolaro...... 8)

Get the V6, you will have more power. I think that every guy where you own a i4 would like to have a V6. If you want to enhance the performance, you can get a lot of pwer from this V6. Yes it will drink more gaz, but it's a big car,not a yaris, so you need muscles!

I wouldn't want the 5sfe, but I'm somewhat satisfied with the 2AZ.

Convertible with 4 banger? You might not be satisfied with it.

Anyway welcome to the boards!

Except for '08 you could get the SE I4 conv. If you're willing to give up power for mpg, it will still be a smooth ride and look pretty much the same as any other conv's on the road.

But test drive it and make sure you're okay with what some of us would consider underpowered.

If you're buying used, the other drawback of the I4 is that they came with the lower package. So you'll have the cheaper stereo, HVAC, no leather, etc. It would be rare for someone to get many options on the lowest level of the line.

Thanks peeps, for all the tips on the 4 banger!! I ain't into leather, I don't know what the difference on the HVAC is between the 6 and the 4 and I guess I'll have to upgrade the stereo if I get one that is not adequate...

I am mainly interested in the style and the gas mileage. I travel from Florida to Missouri often and would like a dependable car that looks great with good MPGs. Gaz ain't gittin cheaper.

Then you got the right model. And you don't want the high end HVAC. It's nicer to look at but it's only a pain in the ass. SE I4 will have three knobs.

Plus you'll have more colors to choose from. Good luck finding your ride.
