Hello everyone, I have enjoyed lurking for a while on this forum. We all seem to have a passion for the aforementioned automobile.

I have a couple of questions that I have searched for to no avail. Ill give you the basics;

2000 SLE
SILVER
216,000 MILES

I purchased it in 2001 with about 30 k miles on it. It has been wonderful...just had a timing belt change and the whole works yesterday. Any advice before I post my problem on the appropriate forum?

Thanks,

Nice car man, got any pics? 216k sounds about right for a Toyota. I feel safe then at 141k with my V6 SLE.

Thanks for the welcomes. My only problem really is the JBL 6 cd changer. The sound is fine, am/fm is fine, cassette is fine. However recently when I load a cd, it accepts it, I can hear it trying to read the cd, but it can't read it and ejects the cd. I have read through the forum and have seen several problems with the cd changer but not this particular one. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks,

Edisto

At 27,000 miles per year, I guess the car doesn't stop much.

My advice: Don't post while driving! :wink:

Yeah, we have done some crazy things, driving wise. I guess back in 2002 we were in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, it was raining, but snowing back in North Carolina where we live. So, we packed up, drove all night, hit freezing precip in South Carolina, drove to the mountains (through a winter storm) of North Carolina and went skiing the next day. The Solara didn't miss a beat.

My cd messed up to, I used the old tried and true method of replacing the head unit. Worked wonderfully!

welcome to sg and nice to know the 1mz is solid up to 216k miles

my stock hu crapped out on me about a month and a half ago. all it would play is CDs. radio and cassette were shot though (couldn't play my ipod thru the cassette adaptor...so i had to upgrade)

if you want mine that doesn't have radio or tape function, but plays cd's well, then PM me, and pay shipping.

but if i were you, i'd just upgrade HU completely. the double din makes the possibilities virtually endless.
