so i've had my set up for about 3 days now. E/H/I and my average mpg used to be 25mpg on a 2az-fe (i like to take off fast). I've actually been driving more agressive than normal and right now my mpg has actually gone up to 30mpg!. On the gen 2 that first cat that i took off really made my mpg crap. The owner at jpp performace, jose, told me when i went down there that in our solaras they really make that bend sharp from the header to the exhaust and the cat really slows ur car down and restricts a lot of air flow (sorry for the run on sentence, im tired). I thought he was just throwing me a sales pitch but he was actually right.

On my Gen 1.5 1mz-fe, I got an average of 19mpg on mixed driving. However, I put in a K&N air filter and my economy went up quite a bit. Granted, it was all highway driving but this past weekend going from Melbourne to West Palm Beach and back I was getting 26mpg, above the EPA average.

I'm going back to my regular daily driving routine this week and see how it helps the mileage, but I know for a fact that I usually got 22mpg on the highways so it's a good start.

240 miles on half a tank (18.5 gal / 2) = just below 26mpg

When my tunes stays in I get much better mileage - but when something triggers it to fail and throw CELs, then it drops like mad.

I picked up my ride on Friday (had Split Second re-tune before it went into Lanzini's shop) and it was running great - no CELs or anything. Drove it home from Long Beach to Ojai and then all over Ojai to Ventura & Santa Barbara this weekend - lots of slow curvy roads - ave 26mpg. I usually get about 20-22 when the tune is out - but there's still something screwed up electronically and the tune will go out in a couple days.

I'm really hating this flippin drive-by-wire over-ECU'd POS though... I'm seriously thinking about returning it back to stock and trading it in on a Prius. :(

I drive an auto 02 SEI4. I’m running on all stock and I got 375 miles on 18 gallons of 89 octane. (getting 91 octane after headers, new spark plugs, intake, and exhaust.) I’m like 15% passive and 85% need for speed. Half highway, half city.

375 miles/18 gallons = 20.83mpg. That’s not that bad comparing to my 96 maxima v6. I drove the same way on it and I get like 14mpg. HAHAHA!!

Let’s just see how much mpg I gain after the upgrades.

Good night. It’s 2:44am where I’m at and I gotta get up at 6am for class.

W/SC, manual, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, K&N, & catback exhaust... I'm getting an average of 24.5mpg. I don't smash it or drive her hard since I'm not tuned right. I do about 95% highway driving and living in Iowa... we really don't get many traffic jams.

It's not hard to do. If you've installed a deck before, you should be able to do it. There's afew write ups and a tutorial(I dunno if the gen2 ecu is the same as the gen1) and follow the manual too.

However if you still don't feel like it's in your talents. I would have it done by someone who has done it before. You really don't want to hurt something.
The one thing I did different is I didn't use the male/female connections they supplied. I went and bought butt(hehe I said butt) connectors.

Split Second made a special box for me - tuned for the JPP headers. I had a dyno tune first and it was weak - went for the street tuning and it was much more aggressive/responsive for about a week. Now its back to crap. They claim its a bad sensor or something... gotta check out the CELs I'm getting to see what it tells me now. No body wants to claim responsibility it seems! :(
