My Supercharger Nightmare

Yesterday I dropped off my car for my supercharger install and was scheduled to pick it up at the end of the day... one problem after another since then and the cars nowhere near completion. If anyone has any input please run it by me I need my car up and running....

First off a huge problem was the belt. As it turns out I was sold a kit that had the wrong sized belt on it so I purchased another one, the right belt.

After that another major problem started

As I pulled up to the shop they had wheeled my car outside to started it up and it started perfectly but threw 3 or 4 CEL , all transmission related ( didnt get the codes, sorry )
Hoping the CEL would go away, we revved the engine to about 3k RPM and it sounded like sweet sweet music to the ears ( SC, JPP Setup and Titanium cat back will do that ). In an effort to check the CEL and see if they were a fluke, we shut off the motor and disconnected the battery, then connected it back. When we went to start the engine again it turned over for a split second and turned off. We kept tryin to start the engine and it wasnt turning over at all.

Upon further investigation we traced it to a bent fuel line and freed the line up. Once again, the car fired up and was turned off. We tried to crank over the engine a second time and the car wouldnt turn over, even though we untangled the fuel line.

Now we suspected a faulty fuel filter and replaced it all together. Again, the car wouldnt start.

We tore up the back seat and reached the fuel pump and tested it to see if it would pump fuel, and thought we found our culprit. The fuel pump was not pumping fuel at all. The unit was replaced with a Walbro 190LPH unit and we attempted to start the car one more time.

Again, it wouldnt fire up

We ran an electrical test on the pump itself to see if it had a signal, and thought we were on to something yet again when it showed no activity in those electric lines. We replaced a few fuses and tried again

Still, the goddamn car wouldnt start.

My friend's shop had to close for the day ( it was 7pm and they usually close @ 5 ) and theyre going to check all the lines again tomorrow and hopefully find the culprit. What could this possibly be?
All of us are gettin really frustrated with this damn project.

Check those pinch wires and try again.

Fuel pressure test?

Low -> could be clogged -> no clog -> check voltage to pump (this is where you guys are) -> have voltage -> check pump (could be bad) -> no voltage -> check signal wire leading to pump (usually comes from PCM)

High (spark plugs are drenched) -> Fuel Pressure Regulator

Before doing all that I'd say check your wiring, might just have something loose while you guys were working on installing your SC (awesome mod btw!), might have just unplugged a circuit coming from the PCM. Sounds more like this than anything on that errrr....flow chart ....I just made. It's not a very comprehensive chart at that haha, I was just trying to get to the signal wire.

Wish I had a schematic of the fuel pump circuit...usually the pump gets its signal from the PCM, no signal might just cause your pump to not respond. Not to mention it could have tripped your CEL. I'd check that signal before condemning anything other parts, then go from there. Can't really verify that theory without a schematic though.

I had something similar where my fuel pump wasn't getting a signal. I just went ahead and ran my own wire and for the pump and added a secret switch so I can shut it off for a little extra security.

The car doesn't want to start because it's saying, well at least I got a lil go but no show (or could use that KIT to really set it off) ... haha

So everything was fine before you took it in right? Im guessing that something was unplugged or otherwise messed up during the install for it to be throwing codes and going crazy. I would just keep checking and checking anything that was tampered with during the install. The supercharger is not a difficult install and neither is the exhaust, so you shouldnt be running into such big problems. Dont worry man, Im sure once you find it youll be like "damn, are you serious?"

I would just keep checking and checking anything that was tampered with during the install. The supercharger is not a difficult install and neither is the exhaust, so you shouldnt be running into such big problems. Dont worry man, Im sure once you find it youll be like "damn, are you serious?"

rofl.. shoulda had us install it in norcal.. 4 turnkey autos

btw are u auto or manual???


my guess would check if u have an AUTO the ebc wiring.. check specifically where the ebc installs under near the ecu..

are you running any gauges?? check where those are wired to..

my bet: something is not tapped properly and is praly grounding it out.. watchout now

next time.. diy the trd charger has to be the easiest charger to install (got it down to about 6 hours start to finish)

I agree that you might be having problems with the ebc hook up. It seems a bit odd that any part of your fuel system would crap out during the install if it was working before.

Aside from that, checking the obvious vacuum and fuel hoses couldn't hurt. I'd also check to make sure all 3 grounding wires are making correct contact with the S/C. The rear one is a bit hard to torque down in such a tight space.

Pee in your gas tank. It clears up the clog from being NA for so long.
