Window tint

Window tint

Postby SolaraMan7890 » Mon Apr 21, 2008 8:18 pm

Hey guys I just got my windows tinted. I was just wondering if any of you that tinted yours, have air bubbles in the area of the back window that has all those dots. The top of the rear window has dots that are apparently supposed to make the window sturdier, and my tint didn't lay down too well over them. The professional who did my windows said there was nothing you can do, the tint goes down fine in some area of the dots but not so well in others. All the guy does is tint and he did a perfect job on everything else, he's pretty respected too, I just want to know if anyone else has this problem.... thanks.

My tint guy, who is well-known for good work in my area and has done my mom's car, both of my dad's, my last car, etc. etc.

He did my 'Lara, and he left that top part untinted because, in his experience, the dots would make it look bad (ie. bubbly) until it eventually started to peel off.

He didn't want to waste either of our time, and I think it looks fine missing that strip - hardly noticable. It might look bad if I had darker tint, my back windows are at 20%.

Best pic I have showing the rear window:

the bubbles go away in time roughly a 1 week or 2 at the most, keep it in the sun. dont mess with it. The dots in the "dot-matrix" that you're tlaking about you can try smoothing it out by using a credit card with a microfiber towel around it.. but it doesn't do much. dont ask me how that stuff occurs because I don't know. My window has it too in the top area in the rear window. It used to bother me but now it's just whatever. don't stress about it. that dot stuff that the guy above says that will peel off is untrue, ive had it like that for 3 years since i owned the car (tinted it a few months after I bought it stock), and nothing's ever peeled.

Yea I'm sure there is a way to do it right, because I have areas in my dot matrix that look fine, but some stick out... Well, glad I'm not the only one. I wouldn't leave it untinted because then light goes through and it doesn't look good in my opinion. (looks worse than the bubbles that is) Pic of the car going up soon, getting it detailed today. :-)

who the hell would be staring at your windows when they'd most likely be staring at your wheels son!

same thing happened here.....
the dots r so gay... the tint just can't fill all the gaps....
im planning to just cover the whole damn matrix dot area with sth black... so its not visible...
any ideas?
however, if u look from the outside, the bubbles not as obvious as u looking at if from the inside.
