Okay so after talking to Dats and Richard a little bit, I decided to change my brakes. My rear rotors are warping slightly and rather than grinding it down (it's probably worn out too much) and after debating what is worth performance/looks/longevity, I decided to stick with OEM rotors but with the best pads out there. I don't need the drilled/slotted simply because I do not race and longevity for me is more of the issue, I don't see a point in spending 200+ more bucks over oem rotors for just minor look upgrades and not as big of an improvement as a bbk. even though I know every style of rotor has it's own purpose.

after reading this:
http://www.aa1car.com/library/2004/ic10422.htm

money right now for me is fairly tight but I want to find out from you guys, what is the best brake pads in your opinion? the kind, as well as manufacturer?

price range is "ehh" but I'd rather know at least what is out there.

I currently run Hawk HPS pads on them and am fairly satisfied with it.

your info please!

thank you in advance.

You can try the EBC greenstuff? Outside of those you're just going to be moving into track compound.

I mean your hawks should already be one of the best possible set of pads out there.

i've been using the axxis organic pads

not for environmental reasons....

but what i had heard (and can confirm once i had installed and used them) is that they produce less brake dust (cosmetic) and they don't squeal as much (and i didn't re-install the brake shims when installing, but i did use lots of grease on the backside of the pad).

stopping power is equitable to what i had as OEM, and to the duralast brakes i had installed first. longevity is good, as i installed these over a year ago, and they still have not shown any problems with uneven wear, or quick wear (considering that i drive pretty maniacally).

price was decent, i think it was something like $80 for the set of front pads, although autozone did have to order them, as they did not have them in-stock when i first went in to get them.

i would recommend these, axxis organic pads, if you have some nice wheels, and would rather not have them covered in black brake dust, three days after you wash.

Jeff I got Brembo blanks for my car for the same very reason you stated. No need for them unless you race your car on a track besides sloted cuts the pads too fast and drill are more prone to cracking or warping. As for pads I just stuck the factory oem pads in because they have the least amount of brake dust Ive ever had and I remember reading old posts where many SG members said that they thought the oem pads where the best.

Thats just a few threads I looked up for you. There are many more. But really I think the jury is still out on this topic. Plus I believe OEM is ceramic which is always good!

i got all ceramics 2 months ago... WAY better than the OEMs.... no more squealing like a pig and no more friggen dust.

autozone recommended ceramics for the front and organics for the rear.
