I'm pretty sure that losing ~20% of the light is probably not too bad. However that is a cop's decision, and not ours.
But 20% tint, is very light.

The two big things to consider are when you tint the lenses it gives any cop a reason to pull you over if they want to just to check you out, but that's no biggie cause there are thousands of reasons if they want one.
The second is the old rule of thumb that if someone hits you in the rear it's their fault no matter what goes out the window. From an insurance company's point of view the tail lights are nothing more than a factory and legal safety device, no matter how cool they look.If you alter them at all, no matter what the law says, you've broken the contract you agreed to with them when you took out your insurance because their agreement is to insure a factory vehicle with oem safety equipment.. If the adjuster comes to look at your car for a claim you need to remember, the first thing he's looking for is a way to get his company out of paying a dime. Especially if there's personal injury involved. They make their money from taking your's and keeping it, not giving it back
If the person that hits you notices you're tinted, all they have to say is that they didn't see your lights because of the tint and guess what, with a good Ins. Rep., the accident becomes your fault.
Sebas has LED's and I agree, you can see those things from the moon But, when you change from OEM, everything, like how well you see them, becomes a personal issue from a legal stand point. I hate to say it guys but this is a get rich quick society and people will use any reason to sue, and insurance companies will use any reason not to pay out.
Welcome to my world. I'm Vice Mayor in my city and have to deal with and think about crap like this all day long. People blow me away. We have one lady trying to sue because she said the city mowers we're making too much noise and it made her nervous.
So is the tint worth it? Well yeah it is. Just way too cool. I'm thinking about printing on view thru, matching my paint as close as I can and wrapping my lenses. If I don't like I just take it off.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw all this in.
