PROBLEMS IN RAIN

Postby BILLSOLARA » Sat Apr 05, 2008 11:05 am

While driving in the rain my 1999 Toyota Solara V6 has a problem.
The problem is that there is a Knocking noise/feeling under the car while driving over bumps. Also in the rain my engine/exhaust noise gets real loud. Now all this happens once the car gets harm an once i go over a puddle, the problem does go away after 10 seconds. Does anyone no why this happens an/or how to fix this problem?

It only happens when you drive through a puddle?

I'd say water is splashing somewhere it shouldn't be. Probably going away when the engine heat dries it out again.

I get that too, only when it's wet, right under the driver's seat. Makes you feel like the bracket is loose or something lol.

But like MCOJerry said, probably just some water getting in somewhere it's not supposed to be....hopefully.

this is all normal. i had this same problem/noise when i drove my car in the snow and rain. I took it to the lift and looked under when it was still wet, the rubber mounts that hold it, move easier when wet and thus makes it seem "loose". once it dries up, it wont make that thunk sound anymore, mine went away since it hasnt rained heavy or snowed much recently.

Us Gen2 owners have a TSB for rotten egg smell when under similar conditions. Waiting to solve other issues, but emission components have 80k mile warranty coverage. I think the TSB just replaces the cat.
