Vortech V-5 SC 3MZ Gen 2 ??

Vortech V-5 SC 3MZ Gen 2 ??

Postby Sebas007 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 6:43 am

Since TRD will never make TRD SC for the 3MZ....and turbo is a bit more complicated...why not using a centrifugal SC like the Tc does.

Would look like this

I've already my battery out of the way.

No need to change the exhaust headers (would be better too...) but the main point is no need for up pipe and complicated tubing.

Shown on the next pic...an optional cooler for denser air.
Image

Turbo like BOV when the throttle is realsed.

Heavy duty option (must be the option that guy, first pics, has chosen)

Things to do...

I think I would have to make a custom rack to settle down the whole SC unit on both ends.

Find a longer belt to reach the S/C pulley.

Upgrade fuel system.

Maybe JPP exhaust headers could be a good things to upgrade too...if they can solve the problem with the check engine code.

I just saw the RIPP Supercharger Drive System (SDS)...I think I would need to ask them for custom unit for the Gen 2. Again the low demand is playing against me. But it is a long-term project. I will do it slowly but nicely. If I don't have enough good support I will give up. But if the opportunity is there I'll seize it and make it real !

I will update this thread once a while

You and your crazy ideas. Are you gonna go SDS instead of a new set of rims? Hell i'd be down for it if the price is right, but i think that this point there is no way you'd be able to get it any where near what i could afford. Good luck to you. Don't forget you'll probably have to upgrade the tranny aswell to handle the extra power.

I would prefer the centrifugal set up over the roots type set up...it would be great if we can get someone to do the custom install for our cars...

That was something I always wanted to do but the $5K needed to add a supercharger just didn't make sense.

You know it would be cheaper to replace your 3MZ engine with the 2GR from the SE Camry. Sure, not as powerful but a whole lot better bang for the buck and more reliable.

I don't know anymore Sean for the rims...I cannot find any "on car" pics to give me a better idea. Last time I took a guess...wasn't that bad, even looking good on some angles. But this time, I want to be sure...don't have extra $$$ to spend in black holes ! ;)

Anyway here, we still have plenty of mighty snow !!

$upport or support ?? :P j/k

On more serious note, I think we should create a boosted Gen 2 section. With tacti and maybe others (me...someday) to have a specific place to share that kind of stuff. Also, new comers who are serious about it will have the place to find stuff and post their own result. I think, the taste of boosting Solara, may be a chain reaction. IMO
