Nothing magical here !!!

Auto tranny takes some addionnal HP to run compare to manual tranny
All the parts runned by the timing belt. Just turn off everything and you should get closer to your goal. But, still the alternator will run to refill your battery and so on....

This apply to any car engine.

Tranny swap FTW !

Just remember...no cheap mod will bring you good gains.

I really didn't think this thread would reach 2 pages. Seriously, the return on your investment is very poor. After you chunk down huge amounts of money, you still have a heavy car to deal with.

What exactly are you trying to do? The kind of work necessary to squeeze more power out of this engine is expensive, complex and reduces the life expectancy of the engine.

To boldly put this, if you had the expertise to do all this, then you wouldn't be asking these questions. (Sorry to offend if I did.)

Engine building is not easy. Horsepower is not free. There are no magical bolt on parts to get you what you seek. You can increase displacement, go with lightweight rods and pistons, knife edge the crankshaft, remove accessories, custom CF half shafts, yada, yada, yada ...

Since I doubt (again no offense) that you will do any of this, I figure this thread is pretty useless.

Welcome to the real world. Like I said, Solaras are great cars. The look great, ride awesome, very comfortable, but they are not speed demons.

Phreakdout, i understand that i am a nooby and i do not know a ton of info about engines and how they work, but i am working to understand them more.

This thread was meant to help me in further understanding what it is about my solara that i can improve for better performance etc, etc,.

I know that you did not mean to offend me man but your making it seem as if my aspirations for my vehicle should be thrown to waste side, I am not here to turn my car into a race car, I just want a little more from my car, i have things lined up and i wrote this thread or came up with it just to make sure i did not miss anything.

I am a smart person man and i know that you did not call me dumb, but let me make my own mistakes, everything that everyone has been saying has been taken into consideration and i will makechanges to my plans accordingly

And honestly speaking i did not mean to offend you Phreakdout, seriously speaking i apologize if i did

No problem ... this is how we all learn.

Do yourself a favor, keep a journal on your modifications. Record before and after performance for each thing you do. This will teach you a little bit about the mod you did. "Did it improve or hurt?" "Did I gain high end power? Did I lose low end power?"

Follow a logical chain of modifications. Sometimes you won't see gains until the right combination of parts are installed. For example, you can add a turbocharger and larger injectors, but with restrictive factory exhaust, fuel pump and ECU tuning; you won't see the gains you want.

You've started with exhaust. Good. Now move to intake. CP-e is the right choice if you are looking to tune later.

Also remember to keep suspension and brakes in check as you add power. Improving your suspension allows you to corner at faster speeds. Improving your braking allows you to brake later before a turn. Both don't add power but they translate to better track times (or street performance.)

Talk with a tuner shop and follow their advice. They will give you the straight and scary facts on how much it costs to go "a little faster." Every car reaches the point of diminishing returns. This is where the cost per additional Hp increases exponetially. You'll have to decide at what point you find that cost is too much.
