I did a quick search, and i could not come up with what i needed..

SO here is my question:

With the TRD Air Filter for the 2.4 i4 engine, Does it increase your gas milage, and do you get any (even if minuscule) power gains?

But Also what is most important to me, is does it give a small noticeable growl or any soundddd?

thanksss

It may have increased my mpg by 1 mpg or so.
No growl because it is still the same factory piping.
No noticeable gain in power.

um, i dont' feel any HP increase on TRD.
it actually make the noise like cold air-intake system at high RPM.
but the noise is much much less than cold air-intake system,
since filter is all covered in factory pipping.
(u can hear VvvVvvvooooo sound around 5000rpm when stereo off)
and, i don't see any significant MPG improvement
however, it does slightly decrease my engine rattling when idle

bottom line, i think it's a waste of money to replace factory filter to TRD filter.
that's why i shift back to stock microfiber filter.
(in the long run, i think breath cleaner is more important than breath faster)

if u looking for sounds, u probably need SRI
i don't FEEL any significant hp improvement on SRI as well.
SRI might gives u slightly faster take off time, but not much.

so far, the best way that i have found to increase MPG is driving no more 35-40mph at local and 65-70 at highway. (Avg. Speed of a tank ~30mph)
my MPG increase almost 20% compared with my old driving style
(45-55mph at local, 80-85mph at highway, avg speed of a tank ~36mph)
i have V6. my avg MPG reading used to be 21.
now is around 25.

i know, i'm too young to drive that slow speed, and i don't think anyone is driving that slow too.
oh well, i got 2 speeding ticket within 4 months, and it's a better way to save gas. what's my option?

haha air filter?!?! dman just get a K&N and call it a day. true, it does next to nothing as its only a filter and not a change in piping etc. It does flow a bit more than a paper filter but not enough to notice.

Personal opinion--get the K&N drop in air filter. It's able to be air blowned out over and over again unlike the cheap overpriced AC-Delco's you would buy off the shelf. Again, no noticeable gains but your engine does breath a little easier with K&N and you don't have to make needless trips in the future to Autozone or Walmart who never stock anything Solara anyway.

yeah i had a K&N drop-in before Injen SRI...felt no difference whatsoever...i even had the vacuum hoses rerouted (docjohn's trick) and acoustic dampener removed.

SRI FTW
