Problems with my Solara :(

Hello everybody,
I bought my car 2 months ago with 128xxx on it. It has 130xxx miles on it now. Recently, I noticed that the car started to idle very rough when parked on an incline. That was a few days back. Today, when I was coming home from work, I stopped at slight incline on a red light. The rough idle hit me again. Even when I was driving at 2k +, the RPM was shaky and I could feel that the car's RPM was not stable. I tried turning it off and turning it back on. Same problem. The last time it did that, I parked it for an hour and went for a class. When I came back, it was behaving normal. I'm really worried about my car. Do you think this is a major issue? I have searched through the forums, and looked into some good advise. Could it be a major engine or transmission problem ? the car almost dies out! . It oscillates from 500 to 700 RPM and sounds pretty rough.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
Al

check spark plugs, mainly injectors, replace those if needed, also recommend seafoaming it, change oil? if auto, do a tranny flush?? just to name a few.. check alternator, battery.. etc.. good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll check that out. I wasn't low on gas. I had a good amount of fuel in my tank. It was trying really hard to die out but something kept it from doing so. It would drop to almost 500 or lower then, hit back up and do it again. I could hear some ugly noise coming from the engine bay.

EGR valve - I'll have my mechanic check that out too. Does it give the check engine light? Cause I have no warnings showing up yet. Thanks

Any updates? To my knowledge, an EGR valve can perform poorly while NOT triggering a CEL

I had a similar problem on a friends Ford. It was a dead spark plug. Caused the whole engine to perform weakly and it would shake hardcore especially when shifting gears. Put brand new spark plugs in and it was better than new. I highly recommend putting new plugs in.

once this happened to me and then the engine just died. Turned out to be a clogged air filter
