Here's a vid link

Sorry for the picture quality, it was hastily shot at night in an underground garage along with the vid. I'll get some proper pics in broad daylight soon.

Let me say that the car is RIDICULOUSLY loud now (like a deeper, less raspier g35 note). I test drove the car for 12 miles and compared it to mine and I have to say it's lost a huge amount of back pressure...so thats something else to consider. The bodywork isn't completely finished and it may look a bit dirty since again, its 80% complete. The car will be going out of commission soon for another upcoming mod....

wow it lookz nice..... I want one :(

but the since the pipe goes right under the fuel tank, you should put something over the pipe to protect it from not heating up the tank...

that sounds SICK. but i dont like the way it looks.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

^^ The fuel tank is before the rear wheels. That is the spare tire well.

Image

I can't tell from this picture ... Was the resonator eliminated? If so, have him try adding a 5" round straight in and out universal resonator there. You want one that is filled with fiberglass or stainless steel wool. (Or both) Get me some dimensions on length and I'll get you part numbers. Go with the longest one he can fit. This should help take out some raspyness.

The rear mufflers are way too small which is also why your sound is so loud. We just need to add more muffler volume to keep the deep tone and lose the high frequency unpleasentry.

Image

See that plastic box on the left, you need to protect that from heat. Either make a heatshield that will go over this or if you have room, a shield that wraps around the pipe. Don't use header wrap as it holds water and speeds up corrosion. Some muffler shops carry universal heat shields that can be clamped to a pipe.

Is his car lowered? The pipes hang down quite a bit. Had I done this, I would have tucked it up more but that makes it 200 times harder to do. Bashing in the tire well to tuck it up is not a good option either. All things considered, he did the best job without getting too elaborate.

Mike T's dual system is tucked up more since he relocated the two tailpipes outward using a Camry rear valance. This let him tuck up the driver's side in the empty space left of the tire well.

The trimming of the valance was pretty good. I'd be interested to see how it turns out after some mild body work there to close up the cut edges.

Nice job, just need to fine tune it a little.

^^ Correction: From an earlier post, I see the resonator was removed. Definately attack this to solve your noise issue.

Doesn't look like its lowered much if at all. That will be dragging on the ground if it was as low as mine is! :o

Sounds okay though... wonder what it would be like with my setup and two TRD mufflers though... can't imagine much lower note or growl than I already have.

Nice work though - glad to see people trying to be innovative out there!!

Brian: I'll bring the little-plastic-box to his attention. As of now, the raspyness is completely gone (maybe cuz it was breaking in?) Now, its just a nice, deep and LOUD growl

Sebas: Removing the resonator is what he wanted so doubt I'll convince him otherwise to install one until he gets a ticket... in short it sets off alarms. Additionally, it does feel like a power loss in the low end due to the lack of back pressure. High end gains feel minimal but my butt-dyno felt it. The biggest gain will come from, believe it or not, a T4 Turbo....soon.

kwyse: The total cost with parts, labor, installation, etc. was $550. If there are any so-calers interested I can get the name and location of the shop.

That's not a sports edition solara right? At the beginning of the video, the interior is tan and sports don't come with tan interior last time i checked. So I am assuming the rear body kit is included in the parts? Correct me if I am wrong.

No this isn't a sports edition solara, my cousin found the rear lip kit in a junkyard and added it on afterwards, so its still missing the skirts and front valences...which hes looking for. And believe me he knows how hard it is to find lol

congrats! I have a bullet style resonator before the y and truely love the louder sound than trd, and still quiet enough for my wife and two daughters.
