depends how it's done I suppose.

I just always assumed a lip kit keeps the lines of a car and is more clean and 'graceful' ?
that's just me.
I think a bodykit is just too overdone and kills what a car is meant to look like.

Different strokes for different folks.

-> and if you have that money around for the bodykit, I would just suggest you to get the trd lip kit from [Xavier], better fitment, better quality, and better looks in my opinoin . 670+shipping to your door.

before you get your hopes up let me just say that NOTHING you find on ebay - body kit related is going to look half as good as a urethane lip kit.. just because of what the kits made of, its cheap material, flimsy and just generally looks shotty. i agree with jeff - if you have your heart set on it go for it, just be forewarned - plus... you'll probably be laughed at on here unless it turns out to be show car quality haha

Whats wrong with a body kit?

Ahem.....

A body kit was originally design for race car that needed full air dynamics in their races. A body kit is suppose to cut the air in certain ways to help the car maintain balance at hight speed in the specific types of racing..

Also the material used must be strong and not and I MEAN NOT flex one tiny bit or else at high speed that will throw the air patterns off.

Now then for the greed of money and looks people have come to make them for regular cars.. SOME of the air pattern kits do work, but the majority of the kits just are for looks and they are not even sturdy enough to do its job. If you look dead on at a car with the kit you will notice it has created even more restriction because although they have a kit on, the flow through the kit is usually stop with a fender cover or a bunch of wires and crappy stuff. That makes the kit useless.

Also if you ever sit in a car with a horrible made kit, you will notice at high speed the car rocks and the kit squeaks back and forth.... thats because the kit is made and installed so poorly that at speeds, its moving back and forth...

Again there are only a few kits out there that really does its job.

Thats why a lot of people go for lip kits. Some lip kits cut airs too, while others are to make the car look as low as possible for a VIP look type.

Again only some cars with the kit actually does its job. its hard to tell unless you study the layout of the kit on the car.

this.... Yes at high speeds.

well thanks for the advice I was really hoping on getting the front bumper from one of these body kits then doing the whole trd lip kit for the sides and rear bumper. I had some other things in mind but I will save it for the pics but yeah that was my plane . I was just a little hesitant because the rear bumper and sides look disgusting and they are all the same.

The biggest thing with kits is the quality. Nothing like spending a couple hours a day for a month to get a kit to fit perfect, just to have a random crack form in the fiberglass while the car is sitting in the garage. Then somehow the whole front gets kicked in (magically) after the owner that just spent all the time fitting the kit sees this. Then back to stock....Personally, I love the R34 Kits on Solaras. They look mean as hell, but the quality just isn't there from what I can tell.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

i dont like body kits that are a generic design for several cars... that means they didnt tailor the design to fit the lines of the car. There are some body kits that are very nice for more popular platforms, but for the solara the kaminari kit is it... anything else has to be full out custom to look right IMO.
