Gen 1.5 w/ 2AZFE - Does it have an EGR? (Updated 4/14)
When I had my 1997 Camry with the 5SFE, I had a weird issue where the car's RPMs would drop dramatically when I took my foot off the gas, then it would recover. It finally got to the point where the car would occasionally stall, and Toyota ended up replacing my EGR.
Now I have a 2003 Solara with the 2AZFE and it's doing the same thing - the best way to reproduce the symptoms is to turn on cruise control on flat terrain headed towards a downhill. When the car reaches the point where it no longer needs the engine to work to maintain speed, the RPMs drop to the point where I can feel the car lagging, then they go back up to the RPMs I'd normally expect. Sounds just like my 1997 Camry, but I don't even see an EGR listed on Advance's site. Does this car even have one? I'm subscribed to AllDataDIY and it doesn't say anything about an EGR either.
What could be causing this on a 2AZ?
