Umm... Quick question... are you Manual or Auto. Only asking b/c if its manual then it might, not saying that it is, but it might be the clutch that is burning. if not then i dunno

Could be the problem I have. Check and see if your valve cover gaskets are leaking oil. It may be oil running down the side of your engine and buring on the exhaust manifold. Do you only smell it when you are stopped?

whoever changed your oil probably spilled some out of the filter, onto the engine, thus making the smell when it warms up.

i recently had this problem as well... i could smell it when stopped or going in reverse... it turned out to be the valve cover gaskets and cost me over $500 to fix. no fun...

Those would be what us tuners commonly call "headers". On our FWD car, where the engine is mounted traverse, you can see the headers when you open up your hood, coming right out of the engine towards you. Usually accompanied with a heat shield and a do not touch, HOT sign.

(off topic, on the RSX and other K-series Honda engine, the exhaust manifold is actually on the back, weird huh?)

Well in that case. If you just changed your oil hskrsolara is probably right. They probably didn't wipe up the spilled oil from the filter which is why you smell it. But to check the valve cover gaskets you should be able to visually check the front one. The back one you will have to stick your hand back there and wipe across where the valve cover is and below it. If you get fresh oil on your hand then you may have a leak. Just make sure you do it with the engine cold because you can burn you hand on the exhaust manifold.

Okay so wipe my headers in the back and see if there is oil leak... so couldn't I just get new headers or is this where the leak would drip onto. And whats the valve cover. Okay Im gonna try to wipe and Im keeping my fingers crossed because if I got a leak I will be holding off on my rims until much later. schools a bitch.

And yeah, to me that sounds like an oil burn. Whether its from valve covers or from oil filter/spill is hard to say. So just after you drive the car, let it sit for about 15 minutes to cool down, maybe longer or less depending on how much you drove. Run your hand along the valve cover gaskets on both valve covers, I would check all the way around them. if still good then double check to make sure your oil filter is screwed in tight. Also check your oil's level frequently too. That will be your first sign of a leak.

So rub my hand over my headers when the car is cool and see if any oil is leaking. And where is the oil filter I thought of checking that but I can't seem to locate it. And will i still be able to drive my car for a whille or will this do serious damage because I only drive about 2 or 3 times a week.
thanks guys.

the oil filter is the white lookin can thing right below the headers.
